In the Hands is Hands Down One of the Best Newsboys' Albums of Late! March 17, 2010 Sonja V Sims Basically, I think this CD or album is excellent, with a lot of good or catchy tunes (In the Hands, Glorious, Upside, Dance, etc.) are very well written and executed and the guys all seem to be in their best form. Of course, when I found out that Peter was no longer going to be w/the band after this compilation, I was very sad or disappointed but will have to check out their latest release w/think its Michael Tate. Ok, well, all I can say is that to me this CD was almost a throwback to some of their earlier work, such as "Shine" and "Take Me to Your Leader," so I was pleasantly surprised but have always been a pretty big NB fan...keep on bringing us some great tunes!
Take Me to Your Leader
"IN THE HANDS OF GOD" NEWSBOYS February 8, 2010 church lady (Los Altos Hills, CA.) Really great CD. I am enjoying it. It did not disappoint. Heard it first on Com Cast Cable. Now I am looking for a concert to attend and will be looking for more of their albums. Amazon is where I go to find all my books and CD's Thanks Amazon for making finding songs I've heard easy to find.
Good, but I was Expecting More January 4, 2010 Jeremy Johnson I have enjoyed the Newsboys music for years and couldn't wait to get my hands on this CD and at the same time disappointed because this is the last album with Peter Furler as the lead singer. The radio hit "In the Hands of God", "My Friend Jesus", and "Lead Me To The Cross" are my favorites from the whole album. I felt that the rest of the album, while creative, missed the mark on what I've come to expect from the Newsboys. Overall good album, but not the top of my list for greatest CD's that they've produced. I'm waiting to see were Michael Tate will take the Newsboys as their new lead singer.
Thumbs up December 16, 2009 Artsy1 On this album, the ones with right-on lyrics and unusual riffs worked the best, like "The Way We Roll"--what a great starter! Fantastic beats. This one is standard upbeat Newsboys. I am hooked on "In the Hands of God" as a single, too; it has an encouraging message and thoughtful lyrics--an excellent choice for a title track.
Overall, I have to say that this album has a little less drive than "Go," but then again, some of the songs on "Go" took a while to grow on me. In the end, I look forward to letting "RSL 1984" and some of the others work their way onto my favorite songs list, especially since The Newsboys are one of my favorite groups with their positive take and occasionally-quirky lyrics.
Not what I would expect after over 2 years to work on it... September 24, 2009 R. White (Athens, GA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the newsboys (I've listened to them over half my life), and I think that this album is very good (I'm listening to it right now), but I just feel like it was rushed, which is strange considering there was about a 2 1/2 year gap between this release and their last real studio album. It just doesn't have the quality of "Go", which I thought was one of their best albums in years. There are very few songs that I go back to and listen to over and over again, with the exception of "Upside". This song has the quirkiness and fun to it that I love the Newsboys for (still no whistles though :) ). If you're a newsboys fan, definitely buy this, because it is them, and it's the last time you'll ever hear Peter as the lead singer. However, if you liked "In the Hands of God" or recently went to a concert and you liked what you heard, get "Shine: The Hits" and "Go" before this album. That will give you a better idea of what the newsboys are. Then, come back for this album.
